Actor Brad Pitt portrayed Edward Norton’s better half in David Fincher’s Fight Club. As Tyler Durden, the movie’s star, Pitt comes across as everything Norton’s character, the nameless narrator, wants to be.

Comparing the two, Pitt’s Tyler Durden is much more charismatic, confident, and fashionable than Norton’s narrator. But between the two actors, which one was actually taller?

How tall is Edward Norton

In Fight Club, Pitt and Norton appear to be around the same height, with neither significantly towering over the other. As reported by Celeb Heights, Brad Pitt measures at 5 feet, -11 inches. However, Norton slightly edges out his co-star with a purported height of 6 feet. Norton has also confirmed this measurement while talking to Joe Rogan.

“I’m 6 feet tall but I literally, if I’m in shape, I weigh like 155,” Norton told Rogan according to Celeb Heights.

Celeb Heights also noted that Norton suffered a back injury after an unfortunate accident while filming The Painted Veil. In the 2006 movie, he discussed the extent of his injuries.

“One of those horses chucked me off pretty badly,” Norton told AP Radio News (via CBS News) “I broke my spine in like three places. I broke my back. I broke three vertebrae in my back.”

Norton had no idea that his back was broken after the incident. It took some time before the revelation settled in.

“I felt like my back was horribly wrenched, but I sort of assumed I was OK, and I didn’t actually find out I had broken it until I went to Hong Kong,” Norton revealed. “I cracked my 10th, 11th, and especially my 12th thoracic vertebrae.”

CBS News reported that swimming and massages helped Norton recover from his back injury.

How does Edward Norton’s height compare to other Hulk actors?

When comparing Norton to other actors who have played Hulk, it turns out the actor’s height is somewhere in the middle. In terms of movies, Eric Bana, who played the Avenger in Ang Lee’s Hulk, stands at 6 feet, -2 inches.

But Lou Ferrigno stands as the tallest live-action Hulk to date at 6 feet, -5 inches. Ferrigno, however, only played the role of Hulk in the 1970s series The Incredible Hulk. Meanwhile, his counterpart in Bill Bixby played the role of Bruce Banner, who was 5 feet, -9 inches tall. The current Hulk, Mark Ruffalo, is the shortest actor to play the character. Celeb Heights reported that he is 5 feet, -7 inches and some change.

Edward Norton had a different story in mind for ‘The Incredible Hulk’ than Marvel

Similar to Eric Bana, Edward Norton only had the opportunity to play Hulk once. But one of the reasons he left the Marvel franchise was due to creative differences. Norton wanted to model his Hulk movie in a similar vein to Christopher Nolan’s Batman.

“And what Chris Nolan had done with Batman was going down a path that I aligned with: long, dark, and serious. If there was ever a thing that I thought had that in it, it was the Hulk,” Norton told The New York Times.

But it was a take that Marvel’s vision didn’t align with.

“I laid out a two-film thing: The origin and then the idea of Hulk as the conscious dreamer, the guy who can handle the trip. And they were like, ‘That’s what we want!’ As it turned out, that wasn’t what they wanted,” he said.
