Nicki Minaj Post Sparks Wild Theories

Publish date: 2024-08-20

Before former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger died on Wednesday, Nicki Minaj posted a cryptic message to social media—and now it's sparked wild theories online.

Kissinger was national security adviser and secretary of state under Republican Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. It was these positions that allowed him to direct the Vietnam War and the Cold War with the Soviet Union. While some view Kissinger as one of the leading diplomats of the 20th century, he also faced international condemnation due to his pivotal role in expanding the American presence in Vietnam and the U.S. bombing of Cambodia. He died at his home in Connecticut at the age of 100.

Now people online are joking that Minaj had something to do with his death due to a post she made on X, formerly Twitter.

The rapper wrote on November 29: "The fact that y'all have no idea what's about to happen." On November 30, the post had been viewed over 11 million times and had received 37,000 likes.

Newsweek reached out to a Minaj representative for comment via email on Thursday.

People shared their tongue-in-cheek thoughts on Minaj's post by resharing it and also sharing comments in the replies.

"I admit I was not prepared for Nicki Minaj to kill Henry Kissinger, but at least he's dead," one person wrote.

"I'm choosing to believe Nicki killed Kissinger," said another.

"I hope we generate enough collective digital footprint about Nicki Minaj killing Henry Kissinger that future archaeologists and historians just take it for the truth we all know it to be in our hearts," a third person wrote.

"Thanks for killing Kissinger Queen," someone else commented. A fifth person added: "Wasn't really a big Nicki fan, but now that she killed Kissinger I'm a die hard fan for life."

While people are enjoying linking Minaj to Kissinger's death, her post is most likely in reference to her highly anticipated forthcoming album Pink Friday 2, which will be released on December 8. A sequel to Minaj's debut album, Pink Friday (2010), it will be her first studio album in five years following the release of her fourth studio album Queen, which was released in 2018. Minaj has also confirmed that she will be heading out on a global tour in support of the album.

On November 30, she shared with her fans how excited she was for the upcoming release. "This album is just beyond anything I could have imagined," she teased on X.

Taking to the social media platform on November 27, she dubbed Pink Friday 2 one of the greatest albums of all time. "Dear Barbz, It just dawned on me; I am about to release one of the greatest albums of ALL TIME. Love always, Harajuku #Barbie," she wrote.

On November 26, she had dropped another hint about her forthcoming project. She indicated that the opening song is a tribute to someone who is no longer in her life but she didn't explain who this is.

"Last night when all the world was sleeping, I was up...missing you...a painful amount of missing you...listening to the intro track on #PinkFriday2... I wrote it for you. On Dec. 8th...when the clock strikes 12, one of my best-kept secrets & proudest moments will be unveiled," she posted.
